Controlling self...

“giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue...knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;” 2 Peter 1:5-6 KJV

Good morning Divine Ones! We are working with the Fruit of the Spirit and planting Temperance in our divine garden today. Our passage speaks to adding to Faith temperance. Let’s break it down! Temperance is “moderation in action, thought, or feeling.” (Webster’s). In other words self-control. Self-control is “the ability to direct one’s behavior in right ways.” (Revealing Word). This is another Fruit that I had to diligently work with. Moderation in action, thought AND feelings. Ohhhh my goodness! Sometimes we get caught up in self and are not considerate of others. Our thoughts and feelings run wild and we say things that are not gentle or good. I had to learn that I could get more done if and when I was in control of my thoughts and feelings. It’s not what people do or say it’s how we react to what they do or say. I have to tell you that when I became calmer, as I quieted myself, life became better. Now the path was dangerous for a time. Lots of trial and error experiences. This change didn’t happen overnight but, I eventually got there. How? I’m glad you asked. Through prayer and meditation. Through stillness and diligence. Through denials and affirmations. As the scripture states we must apply knowledge (insight and understanding). “...learn of me...” Matthew 11:29. Practicing the Presence daily brought a sense of peace. Peace brought the understanding that what comes up does not have to come out. Or if it comes out it should be milder and gentler. Divine Ones plant temperance today. Manage your thoughts and feelings. Do this and watch... what... happens! More tomorrow! 💖💙💕
