Merciful mental position...

“Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility]...” Philippians 2:5 AMP

Good morning Divine Ones! We are working with the 5th Beatitude, “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” Our passage today speaks to having the same attitude that Jesus had. Let’s break it down! Attitude is a “mental position”. Our attitude is based on our thoughts. “The thing that really matters is that you be merciful in your thought.” (The Sermon on the Mount). In John 5:5, we see an example of Jesus being merciful. “And a certain man was there (the pool of Bethesda) which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. “...Jesus saw him and ...knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?” John 5:6 KJV. The scripture states that an angel stirred the waters and whoever entered the pool after the stirring would be healed. The man told Jesus that he had no one to carry him to the pool and when he tried to get there himself others would get there before him. Jesus showed mercy and said, “Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.” John 5:8 KJV. Now, he could have passed the man by. He could have told him to get there the best way he could. Jesus demonstrated mercy. In order to demonstrate mercy we have to have the mental position (attitude) of being merciful. Let this mind be in you. Let merciful thoughts be in you. How do we do this? Through prayer, meditation and sitting in the Silence listening for the still small voice of God. “Let us be merciful in our mental judgments of our brothers...” (The Sermon on the Mount). If we are merciful in our thinking, merciful actions will follow. So Divine Ones, let us be merciful in our thoughts and our actions. Do this and watch... what... happens! More tomorrow! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
