No condemnation...

“...Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” She answered, “No one, Lord!” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go. From now on sin no more.” ]” JOHN 8:10-11 AMP

Good morning Divine Ones! We are working with the 5th Beatitude, “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall receive mercy.” Our passage today speaks of condemnation. Let’s break it down! In John 8, a woman who was caught in adultery was brought before Jesus by the leaders of the synagogue. They told him that “Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned, but what sayest thou?” John 8:5 “Jesus stooped down and began writing on the ground. ...when they persisted...he said unto them “He that is without sin among you, let him cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one.” John 8:9. After everyone had left Jesus asked the woman “...where are thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?” She said “No man Lord”. Jesus said unto her “Neither do I condemn thee; go and sin no more.” John 8:10, 11. We have all fallen short. We have all made mistakes. Sin is “missing the mark; that is falling short of divine perfection. Sin is man’s failure to express the attributes of being—Life, Love, Intelligence, Wisdom and the other God qualities.” (Revealing Word). We have all been less than perfect. The leaders of the synagogue wanted to punish the woman by stoning her to death. They said, “That was what Moses taught.” Jesus taught “not of the letter, but of the Spirit, for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.” 2Corinthians 3:6. Sometimes when we see that someone is not following the rules we point fingers and want them to be punished in some way. Now I’m not talking about big things like robbing banks. I’m talking about slips in consciousness. Christian folk sometimes become super holy and throw stones. We are working on becoming merciful. Mercy is compassion, compassionate treatment of others.” (Webster’s). I would love to know what Jesus wrote on the ground. Did he write of their sins? Did he write of their missing the mark? Once he told them to check themselves they dropped their stones and walked away. He was merciful toward her and the ones with the stones. Divine Ones are you practicing Mercy or are you throwing stones? Are you living by the letter of the law or by the Spirit? Divine Ones which is it? More tomorrow! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
