Thou shalt not kill...

“Thou shalt not kill.” Exodus 20:13 KJV

Good morning Divine Ones! Today we are working with the 6th Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.” Exodus 20:13 KJV. Let’s break it down! On the surface this commandment seems to be about taking a life but, it is about so much more. “One of the definitions of kill in Websters is “to annihilate or destroy...”. Usually, this meaning is associated with war, and not just the military kind. There are arguments all over the land regarding gun control, when the only purpose of a gun is to kill. Let’s look at this commandment from another angle. “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill, and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca (contempt for) shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” Matthew 5:21-22 KJV. “Instead of trying to narrow the sixth commandment into the strict ethical sense of who can be killed and who can kill, Jesus broadened the application into the whole area of destructive tendencies of mind.” (Breaking the Ten Commandments). I would add the word “enmity” as well which is defined as “...active...mutual hatred or ill will”. (Webster’s). “Jesus was like a wily prosecutor who allowed you no room to evade issues, no place to hide. There is no way, in his concept of “You shall not kill,” for anyone to sit back and, clucking his tongue, say, “Yes, if they would just obey, we would have a good world!” With Jesus, it was never them, only you!” (Breaking the Ten Commandments). So, let’s sit with this concept for a while. More tomorrow! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
